Overview

Mailchimp is the world’s largest marketing automation platform. More than 16 million people and businesses use Mailchimp to design and send 1 billion emails a day. We empower small businesses with a suite of powerful and easy‑to‑use email, marketing automation, and analytics tools that integrate with hundreds of popular applications and services.

The Design team is made up of multidisciplinary designers, thinkers, explorers and tinkerers dedicated to solving problems for our customers. Our full‑stack designers sit at the intersection of design, product management, and engineering and work closely with product owners, engineering team leads, research, data science, marketing and editorial to arrive at elegant solutions for our users.

We are seeking an experienced full‑stack designer who is enthusiastic about creating elegant user experiences. This role will help small businesses acquire customers, including working on design tooling in our Forms products. The ideal candidate has experience designing design tools, technical understanding of CSS and responsive design, and solid experience with design systems and managing brand styles. Candidate must have a deep understanding of the full product design process, from user research and problem definition to interaction design, visual design, and content design.

This person will be responsible for leading the design of new products and features, from ideation to implementation.

Designers at Mailchimp are always looking for ways to craft simplicity out of complex problems with an awareness of market need, an obsession for detail, and an eye for sharp visual design. We look for a balanced curiosity for how things work, a dedication to bringing a shared vision to life, and a dream to grow in your design career.

Responsibilities
  • Drive and deliver design strategies, frameworks, principles, and designs across a broad range of projects to accelerate large initiatives and align stakeholders across different teams and business units.
  • Work closely with engineers and product managers to ensure that designs are feasible and meet customer needs.
  • Lead delivery of high‑level frameworks for understanding the problem space, detailed design specs for end‑to‑end initiatives, and ideal‑state prototypes.
  • Bring a bold vision and design strategy to life across multiple areas in the ecosystem.
  • Connect the dots across multiple strategies and initiatives to make the largest impact.
  • Stay up‑to‑date on the latest design trends and technologies, specifically regarding AI.
  • Be a masterful storyteller, able to influence a broad audience by visualizing ideas and concepts for internal leaders, partners and customers.
  • Use facilitative leadership skills to drive the best outcome for stakeholders, resulting in others learning from you and inspiring them.
  • Maintain, guide, and push the boundaries of design systems and patterns.
Qualifications
  • 8+ years of product design experience with strong visual and interaction skills.
  • Expert knowledge and experience with driving and applying user‑centered design processes while working collaboratively with customers and cross‑functional teams including engineering, product management, and user research; seasoned in Agile development.
  • Experience running research independently and translating insights into design solutions for consumer and/or commercial web & mobile application interfaces.
  • Comfortable taking a first pass at writing copy with the support of Gen‑AI tools.
  • Experience building interface prototypes and a portfolio of examples, ideally using AI tools in addition to traditional prototyping in Figma.
  • Ability to rapidly build and iterate on low- and high-fidelity prototypes that convey the design concept using the best and most appropriate tools and techniques.
  • Strong written, verbal and visual communication, influence, and persuasion skills.
  • Ability to balance customer, business, and shareholder needs and cross‑functional partnership, collaboration, and decision making.
  • Willingness to dig into and understand the data and to leverage creative thinking and problem solving skills.
