Physician - Gastroenterology
Join the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs as a Physician in the Gastroenterology Service line, delivering gastrointestinal care at the Atlanta VAMC.
Pay- Base pay range: $‑$ per year.
The Gastroenterologist will serve the GI Service line which has programmatic responsibilities for the delivery of gastrointestinal care of patients at the Atlanta VAMC.
Qualifications- United States citizenship (non‑citizens only if unable to recruit qualified citizens per VA policy).
- Doctor of Medicine or equivalent, from a VA-approved school for the year of completion.
- Full and unrestricted license to practice medicine in a U.S. state, territory, Commonwealth, or D.C.
- Completed residency training approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in an accredited core specialty program leading to board eligibility (ACGME or AOA, or other qualified residency with at least five years U.S. practice).
- PRPs (Physician Resident Providers) may be appointed if fully licensed, eligible, and on intermittent or fee‑basis.
- Proficiency in spoken and written English.
- Preferred GI reference; see VA qualification standards.
- Physical requirements:
light lifting under 15 lbs, light carrying, walking, standing, kneeling, bending, etc. Vision, hearing, ability to use N‑95 mask or PAPR.
- Report to the Chief of Gastroenterology for clinical, administrative, and quality performance matters.
- Perform endoscopic procedures daily and see patients in outpatient clinic.
- Maintain a clinical caseload, including individual and/or group treatment at Atlanta VAMC.
- Perform general gastroenterology related procedures; responsibilities may vary with expertise and service line needs.
- Provide clinical consultation to Atlanta VAMC clinical staff within and outside GI.
- Allocate time to complete administrative responsibilities associated with patient care.
- Provide leadership, guidance, teaching, and consultation on staff education and development, including medicine residents, fellows, and other trainees.
- Work schedule:
Monday‑Friday 8:00 AM–4:30 PM (subject to change).
