Job Description
Children's Healthcare of Atlanta, in collaboration with the Emory University Department of Pediatrics, Division of Neonatology, is seeking a clinical neonatologist with specialized expertise in neurological care for critically ill newborns to help lead our expanding neonatal neurocritical care program. This faculty position offers the unique opportunity to shape clinical care, advance research, and mentor the next generation of neonatologists while working with a world-class multidisciplinary team.
This role is appropriate for all ranks as it offers both leadership opportunities and robust support. The faculty member will contribute to the clinical, research, and teaching missions of the Division of Neonatology and Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta with clinical coverage in the NICU and participation in student, resident, and fellow education. Key clinical responsibilities include:
- Lead clinical care and quality improvement initiatives for infants with complex neurological and neurosurgical conditions
- Oversee therapeutic hypothermia protocols and neuroprotective strategies for approximately 50 HIE cases annually
- Provide clinical coverage across our three NICUs with state-of-the-art neuroimaging and monitoring capabilities
- Collaborate extensively with pediatric neurology, neurosurgery, neuroradiology, and rehabilitation specialists
- Contributing to our robust education mission by teaching and mentoring medical students, residents, fellows, and advanced practice providers, particularly in areas related to neonatal neurology
- Actively engage in research opportunities focused on neuroprotection and neonatal brain injury. Note that our institutions have been active participants in the Neonatal Research Network clinical trials for over 30 years and have the opportunity to participate in the Children’s Hospitals Neonatal Consortium, including the HIE and neurosurgical focus groups. Individual research support includes access to existing clinical research infrastructure and start-up funding on case-by case basis.
The Division of Neonatology is a large and diverse group with more than 75 faculty, advanced practice providers, clinical fellows, and administrative staff. Our division is committed to providing outstanding clinical care at our three Emory-affiliated hospitals:
Grady Memorial Hospital, Emory Midtown and Arthur M. Blank Hospital. Our high risk Developmental Progress Clinic serves outpatients from each of these facilities as well as other regional institutions.…
