Position Overview:

The Morgan Oliver School is seeking a dedicated and passionate Science Teacher to join our team. The ideal candidate will teach science classes to students across multiple grade levels, focusing on Kindergarten/1st grade, 2nd/3rd grade, and 4th-6th grade. This part-time position requires 8-15 hours per week, distributed over two to three days.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and deliver engaging science lessons aligned with NGSS (Next Generation Science Standards) for students in Kindergarten/1st grade, 2nd/3rd grade, and 4th-6th grade.
  • Utilize The Morgan Oliver School's scope and sequence to design and implement age-appropriate curriculum that supports students' scientific inquiry and exploration.
  • Incorporate hands-on activities, experiments, and projects to foster a love for science and enhance learning outcomes.
  • Assess student progress and adjust instructional strategies accordingly to meet individual needs and learning styles.
  • Collaborate with other educators to integrate science concepts across the curriculum and promote interdisciplinary learning experiences.
  • Maintain a positive and inclusive classroom environment that supports the social, emotional, and academic growth of all students.
  • Communicate regularly with parents/guardians regarding student progress, achievements, and areas for growth in science.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities and school-wide initiatives as required.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Science Education, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
  • State teaching certification or licensure (preferred).
  • Proven experience teaching science to elementary and/or middle school students.
  • Knowledge of NGSS and experience with curriculum development and implementation.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage time effectively.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with colleagues, parents, and students.
  • Commitment to fostering a diverse, equitable, and inclusive learning environment.
