About The Wardlaw SchoolThe Wardlaw School is dedicated to serving children with average to superior intelligence and mild to moderate language-based learning disabilities, including dyslexia (reading disability). Children accepted into the Wardlaw School may exhibit underlying auditory and/or language processing difficulties that make it challenging for them to learn in their current educational setting. Our students range in age from 5 to 12 years old and are in kindergarten through 6th grade.
Wardlaw School students typically have a diagnosis of dyslexia or “red flags” for the disorder. They may also have difficulty understanding and/or using spoken language, expressing themselves through written language, or experiencing difficulties with mathematics.
- A master’s degree or commensurate experience in learning disabilities, reading, speech-language pathology, or special education from an accredited university.
- Training in at least one multi-sensory reading method.
- An ability to develop, plan, and implement curriculum using a variety of resources.
- Experience with elementary-aged students.
- Three exceptional references.
