Overview
The Salvation Army, an internationally recognized non-profit, faith based organization, has a job opening for the Summer Program Coordinator for the Metro Atlanta Area Command Bellwood located in Atlanta, Georgia.
Job SummaryPlans and provides activities for school-age children participating in The Salvation Army Bellwood Boys and Girls Club Summer Day Camp Programs; plans, develops, and facilitates character/leadership development, health/fitness/hygiene/nutrition training, education attainment, homework assistance, basic skill development in reading, writing and math, basic computer knowledge, and life/coping skills; prepares and maintains program records; maintains cleanliness and orderliness of The Salvation Army Bellwood Boys and Girls Club property.
Responsibilities- Plan and provide activities for school-age children in the Summer Day Camp Programs.
- Develop and facilitate character/leadership development, health/fitness/hygiene/nutrition training, education attainment, homework assistance, basic reading, writing, and math skills, basic computer knowledge, and life/coping skills.
- Prepare and maintain program records.
- Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of The Salvation Army Bellwood Boys and Girls Club property.
- Knowledge of the principles and practices of child behavior and development.
- Knowledge of early childhood curriculum development.
- Knowledge of First Aid and CPR and ability to ensure child safety.
- Ability to teach Christian values along with general early childhood educational curriculum.
- Ability to plan, develop, and implement effective childhood programs and activities.
- Ability to read, write, and communicate in English.
- Ability to observe children and ensure their safety.
- Ability to operate general office, playground, kitchen, recreation equipment, and computer equipment.
High school diploma or GED preferred, and two (2) years experience teaching child development programs in a church or pre-school, or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Licenses and Certifications- Valid State Driver’s License
- CPR and First Aid Certification
Ability to meet attendance requirements; duties are performed in a setting with sitting, standing, and walking; environment may involve weather-related discomfort, noise, dust, and dirt.
