The School of Health Sciences at UNSW is rapidly expanding to service education agendas based on our four ground‑breaking health professional education programs. These programs have broadened the scope of our teaching efforts and are shaping the future health workforce in Australia and beyond.
Why this role mattersThe Lecturer/Senior Lecturer will possess a health professional qualification recognised in Australia and will make a significant contribution to educational excellence in the School of Health Sciences within the Faculty of Medicine and Health. The School teaches health professional programs across Exercise, Nutrition and Dietetics, Pharmacy and Physiotherapy.
This position will teach across all health professional programs, specifically leading the development of students in professionalism, innovation in healthcare, and career development across a broad scope of practice settings. The role will report to the relevant Discipline Lead; it has no direct reports but will collaborate with all disciplines to enhance interprofessional education within the Faculty. UNSW’s Education Focused roles (EF) enable academics to specialise in education, deliver high‑quality teaching, and pursue initiatives to enhance students’ learning experiences.
Those appointed to this specialisation are expected to drive educational excellence within the university’s teaching and learning communities.
- Level B
- Registration or accreditation as a health professional in Australia.
- A PhD in a health discipline (preferred; significant clinical and education experience will be considered sufficient).
- A breadth of professional practice and/or education experience in multidisciplinary teams.
- Proven commitment to proactive maintenance of discipline knowledge and development.
- Experience in teaching and learning design, development and delivery of courses (subjects) and programmes (degrees), at undergraduate and/or postgraduate level.
- Evidence of highly developed interpersonal and organisational skills.
- Evidence of ability to support and inspire students from diverse backgrounds and to support student equity, diversity and inclusion initiatives.
- Level C (additional)
- Significant experience in teaching and learning design using a range of pedagogical approaches, development and delivery of courses and programmes at undergraduate and/or postgraduate level, especially in inter‑professional education.
- A PhD in a health discipline.
- Evidence of professional development in teaching and a strong track record of teaching excellence.
- Demonstrated success in initiating curriculum development and improvement.
- Demonstrated track record in research (may be in scholarship of learning and teaching) with high‑quality outcomes that improve education and/or health outcomes.
- Evidence of teaching effectiveness and passion for educational excellence and fostering this in others.
- Verification of qualifications.
