Position DescriptionThe Institute for Biomedical Sciences at Georgia State University invites applications for Director of Center for Microbial Pathogenesis and professor faculty position to begin in August 2025. Applicants should have a Ph.D. degree in Biomedical Science or a related discipline. Prospective applicants should have an exceptional record of achievement in biomedical research, leadership, a commitment to biomedical science education, and a strong record of scholarly activity, including outstanding external federal funding.
The candidate must provide evidence of the successful establishment of an internationally recognized research program and of excellence in innovative scholarly research, including student success activities. All areas of Biomedical Science will be considered, with preference given to candidates with expertise in the areas of microbial pathogenesis, inflammatory and infectious diseases, vaccine and drug development in infectious diseases, immunology, and inflammation.
New faculty members will be supported by competitive start‑up packages and excellent laboratory space. Outstanding candidates will have the opportunity to be nominated as Georgia Research Alliance Eminent Scholar. GRA Eminent Scholar are expected to engage in translational and/or economic development efforts in their field.
Academic experience on the tenure‑track, involving leadership, research, teaching, and service at a higher education institution, is required for a minimum of 10 years.
Required EducationPh.D. degree in Biomedical Science or a related discipline at the time of appointment.

- Ability to collaborate with colleagues to achieve discipline, department, or college goals.
