Position: Department Chair of Business (Faculty)

Overview

The Chair of the Department of Business at Perimeter College, Georgia State University, will oversee academic programs, faculty, and departmental operations in alignment with college and university strategic plans.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the department’s academic mission, including program design, curriculum development, and student learning outcomes.
  • Recruit, evaluate, promote, and support faculty and staff, ensuring compliance with university appointment and tenure policies.
  • Develop and manage the departmental budget, ensuring resources support faculty, students, and departmental initiatives.
  • Coordinate course scheduling and resource allocation to meet enrollment demand and institutional priorities.
  • Maintain quality of instruction through assessment practices and faculty development initiatives.
  • Facilitate communication between the department, college leadership, and university units, representing the department in official capacities.
  • Provide scholarly and creative leadership, encouraging faculty research and service contributions.
Qualifications
  • Terminal degree in a business or related field and a record suitable for tenure as an associate professor or professor.
  • At least one year of academic leadership experience in higher education.
  • For internal candidates: tenure and rank of associate professor or professor by July 1 2026.
Preferred Experience
  • Demonstrated record of academic leadership and departmental management.
  • Experience with innovation in teaching, program development, and enrollment management.
  • Knowledge of accreditation requirements and assessment initiatives.
  • Budgeting and financial management skills for departmental operations.
