Position DescriptionThe role includes:
- Directing and collaborating with the GSU Orchestra Director for one fully-staged opera performance each spring.
- Supervising opera graduate assistants.
- Presenting a fall opera or scenes performance (piano only).
- Serving as artistic director of the Harrower Summer Opera Program with an additional summer stipend.
- Teaching Applied Voice.
- Recruitment activities.
- Maintaining an active profile of scholarship and creative activity at a level suitable for the tenure and promotion process (regional and national work required).
- Demonstrated excellence and experience as a director of opera (stage directing).
- Minimum 3 years’ teaching experience in higher education.
Master’s degree in vocal performance.
Preferred Qualifications /Experience- Doctoral degree in vocal performance or equivalent professional experience.
- Record of successful recruitment.
- Experience teaching in young artist programs.
- Experience with musical preparation/coaching.
A criminal background check is required.
