Description:

The Kindezi Teacher develops and delivers high-quality, data-driven differentiated instruction while fostering a positive learning environment. They instruct students in a classroom environment through lectures, discussions, visual aids, instructional strategies, and other effective teaching methods for student comprehension.

Reports to: Assistant Principal

Network Support: Chief of Academic Programming

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

Instruction:

  • Prepares lessons and outlines to use in class that effectively cover the material.
  • Plans and conducts activities for a balanced program of instruction, demonstration, and work time that provides students with opportunities to observe, question, and investigate.
  • Prepares, administers, and grades tests and assignments to evaluate students' progress.
  • Administers various types of assessments to monitor students' comprehension of the material and supports state and local testing processes and policies.
  • Uses computers, audio-visual aids, and other equipment and materials to supplement presentations.
  • Responsible for daily classroom clean-up and maintaining sanitation standards.
  • Monitors students in the classroom, at lunch, or throughout the school by maintaining order and discipline.
  • Observes and evaluates students' performance, behavior, social development, and physical health.
  • Performs various administrative duties such as taking attendance, organizing the classroom, recording grades, and responding to communications from parents and staff.
  • Collaborates with other teachers and administrators to develop, evaluate, and revise academic programs following approved curricula.
  • Coordinates conferences with parents and guardians to review student performance and behavior.
  • Assists in the orderly transition of students from one location to another.
  • Develops and delivers high-quality differentiated instruction in one or more subject areas.
  • Implements MTSS structures to support all scholars.
  • Analyzes data and develops action plans to improve student achievement through differentiated instruction.
  • Ensures that all 504 & IEPs are met to support individual student needs.
  • Maintains a positive learning environment that cultivates both academic and socio-emotional needs of students.
  • Strives to meet network and school-based academic and social-emotional learning goals.
  • Plans and executes field trips and project-based learning opportunities.
  • Professionalism:

  • Actively participates in instructional coaching sessions, professional development, and lesson planning clinics.
  • Maintains prompt and regular attendance; participates in parent meetings and other school functions.
  • Develops meaningful relationships with students and their families by keeping them informed on education-related issues and school events.
  • Collaborates with all staff members, including partner teachers, network content teams, and operational staff.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the appropriate administrator.
  • Adheres to network parent communication policy/guidelines.
  • Maintains accurate, complete student records as required by laws and policies.
  • Attends faculty meetings, teacher training workshops, and educational conferences to improve professional competence.
  • Supports fellow teachers through collaboration and coverage.
  • Demonstrates a commitment to increasing student achievement and supporting social-emotional needs.
  • Exhibits a growth mindset and believes in equitable education for all students.
  • Requirements:

  • Be a United States citizen or have authorization to work in the United States.
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution of higher education (2.4+ GPA).
  • Ability to pass an Atlanta Public Schools background check and obtain a GaPSC-issued clearance certificate.
  • Eligibility for a Georgia Professional Commission Teaching Certification.
  • REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS:

  • Active Level 4 teacher certification issued by the Georgia Professional Standards Commission preferred, or have reciprocity eligibility, OR
  • Adhere to ONE of the following alternative credentialing options:
  • Hold a Bachelor's or Advanced degree in the subject matter taught (e.g., Elementary Education, History, Biology, English); or
  • Have evidence of 21+ credit hours in specialized training in the subject(s) taught; or
  • Pass or exempt the GACE Program Admissions Assessment; or
  • Pass the GACE content assessment for the area/subject taught.
  • WORK EXPERIENCE:

  • 3+ years of teaching experience in an urban environment preferred.

  • Compensation aligned with The Kindezi Schools’ salary scale based on verified degree level and years of experience.
