Lead After-School STEAM Enrichment Instructor
Engineering for Kids - Phoenix Metro is looking for enthusiastic and responsible individuals to join our team as After‑School Enrichment Instructors. In this role you will create a fun and safe environment for students to learn, grow, and create lasting memories while teaching real‑world engineering concepts through hands‑on and tech‑based activities.
Benefits- Semester bonus of $75
- Monthly perfect attendance bonus of $50
North Atlanta, GA (predominantly 30305, 30306, 30319, 30322, 30324, 30326, 30327, 30329, 30341, 30342, 30363; sites may be located in other ZIP codes)
Schedule- Monday – Thursday, up to 8 hours per week based on instructor availability and class vacancies
- Typical start times $2:00 P.M. – $5:15 P.M.
- $20 – $27 per hour for teaching after‑school enrichment classes
- Compensation for an extra hour on each day taught (30 minutes before start and 30 minutes after end)
- Monthly attendance bonus $50 and a semester bonus $75 for eligible instructors
- Independent Contractor classification (1099‑NEC)
- Mileage compensation not provided; instructors are encouraged to track mileage for tax purposes
- Teach the provided lesson plans to registered students at assigned schools and community venues
- Prepare, set up, distribute, and clean up supplies for lesson activities
- Apply classroom management techniques to maintain a structured environment
- Implement behavior management strategies when necessary
- Ensure safety and well‑being of all students at all times
- Follow program operating procedures, the teacher handbook, and site‑specific written and verbal instructions
- Maintain professionalism with students, parents, site staff, and program staff
- Report significant program‑related concerns to designated program staff
- Collaborate with other program staff to create a positive, inclusive classroom environment
- At least 2 years of experience working with children in elementary and/or middle school (enrichment and/or classroom teaching experience is a plus)
- College degree required or pursuing a college degree
- Documentation of unexpired CPR/First Aid certification required before teaching; program does not provide compensation for certification purchase or completion
- Access to a laptop or computer and a printer
- Reliable transportation; a vehicle for transporting supplies is beneficial
- Background check, fingerprinting, and/or drug screening may be required; eligible instructors receive $15 per occurrence
- Optional external training may be required; instructors receive $15 per hour for such training
- Zero‑tolerance policy for abuse, mistreatment, or harassment
Engineering For Kids of North Atlanta delivers STEM learning through engaging programs, including after‑school enrichment classes, private lessons, camps, field trips, birthday parties, and special events. The organization is STEM.org Accredited, Cognia Certified, and aligns with National Teaching Standards.
