Position Summary:

The Academy at Tommy Nobis Center is seeking a Job Coach to join an exciting new program dedicated to providing accelerated vocational education, training, and employment opportunities for young adults with disabilities transitioning from high school into the workforce. This role is crucial for ensuring the ongoing success of participants in maintaining employment.

Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Develop effective coaching and employment plans for Academy participants once they are placed in employment.
  • Assist participants in overcoming personal barriers, setting goals, assessing individual strengths, teaching job tasks, and providing coaching in job settings.
  • Help develop social and life skills and advise on workplace accommodations.
  • Monitor participant progress, maintain records, and prepare reports.
  • Manage community partnerships for participant internship locations and employment opportunities.
  • Work with participants to identify preferred internship and employment options.
  • Serve as an advocate and ally for persons with disabilities by educating the community about The Academy.
  • Utilize experience-based judgment to match participant skills and capabilities with various internship and employment opportunities.
  • Meet with participants and their families to develop individualized service plans, employment goals, and career strategies.
  • Follow up on all employment services for participants, providing case management and support services as needed.
  • Coordinate services with other Tommy Nobis Center staff and referral sources.
  • Maintain confidential, timely, and accurate documentation regarding attendance, progress, and billing in accordance with GVRA, CARF, Tommy Nobis Center, and other regulatory agencies.
  • Communicate regularly with participants, families, counselors, and staff regarding progress and needs.
  • Provide backup support to the Academy Instructor by delivering job readiness instruction and classroom teaching to develop work skills and behaviors.
  • Coordinate and lead meetings to discuss participant progress and concerns.
  • Participate in regular meetings to address issues or concerns related to participants.
  • Represent Tommy Nobis Center at agency meetings and community events.
