Alpha School is building an AI‑powered reading program designed to deliver breakthrough literacy gains—achieving in 2 hours what conventional schools accomplish in a full day. You will design adaptive workshop experiences, interpret live student performance data, and partner with engineering teams to create tools that extend your instructional reach to hundreds of learners.
This position merges direct student instruction with innovative program design, allowing you to influence individual reading trajectories while constructing a system that delivers foundational literacy at scale across multiple school sites.
What You Will Be Doing- Leading adaptive reading workshops focused on building core competencies in phonics, fluency, and comprehension
- Creating personalized motivational experiences that engage students and foster a lasting commitment to reading
- Reviewing student performance data to iteratively improve instructional methods and generate meaningful insights
- Working alongside the technology team to assess and refine AI‑powered literacy solutions
- Bachelor's degree plus advanced certification in reading instruction (such as Orton‑Gillingham, Wilson, or comparable programs)
- Minimum 2 years of experience facilitating small‑group reading interventions with early elementary learners
- Capable of evaluating reading levels, forming instructional groups, and creating differentiated lessons independent of prepackaged curricula
- Comfortable using AI and adaptive learning platforms and interpreting student engagement patterns within those systems
- Authorized to work legally in the U.S. without requiring sponsorship
- Available to work on‑site at one of the following campuses:
Chantilly (Washington), VA;
Lake Forest (Orange County), CA;
San Francisco, CA;
Miami, FL; or New York City, NY

Working with usThis is a full‑time (40 hours per week), long‑term position. The position is immediately available and requires entering into an independent contractor agreement with Crossover as a Contractor of Record. The compensation level for this role is $60 USD/hour, which equates to $120,000 USD/year assuming 40 hours per week and 50 weeks per year. The payment period is weekly.
