Position: Assistant/Associate Professor (2 Vacancies)

Posting Summary

Assistant/Associate Professor – Tenure-Track Faculty Position. Up to two positions in the Department of Health Services Policy and Management (HSPM) at the Arnold School of Public Health, University of South Carolina. These 9-month positions are fully funded and include a substantial start-up package.

Fall 2026.

Location:

Columbia, SC. Hours per week: 37.5. Basis: 9 months. Tenure status:
Tenure-Track/Tenured. This position is open until filled.

Qualifications
  • Applicants must have a doctoral degree in health policy, health services research, health care management, health economics, public policy, or a closely related field by the employment start date.
  • Applicants at the rank of Assistant Professor must have a clear research agenda with high potential for both extramural funding and excellence in teaching.
  • Applicants at the rank of Associate Professor must have an established record of securing extramural funding, publishing research in high-impact peer-reviewed journals, impactful teaching, and years of relevant experience commensurate with rank and academic policy.
Responsibilities
  • Develop or sustain an independent extramurally funded research program.
  • Teach undergraduate and/or graduate courses in the department.
  • Advise and mentor students and postdoctoral fellows.
  • Provide service to the University, profession, and community.
About the Department and School

HSPM is home to 15 full-time faculty engaged in research addressing public health and health care challenges across areas such as rural health, behavioral health, infectious disease, health economics, primary care, maternal and child health, health insurance, and hospital care. The school hosts several centers and offers accredited graduate programs: MHA, MPH, and PhD in Health Services Policy and Management.

Columbia is described as a lively, diverse city with many amenities and convenient access to beaches and mountains.
