Position PurposeAircraft Mechanic Instructor is responsible for delivering engaging and comprehensive instruction in assigned courses, ensuring students grasp both theoretical concepts and practical applications in aircraft maintenance. The instructor also manages essential administrative tasks, such as maintaining records, assessing student performance, and collaborating with faculty to enhance the curriculum.
Key Duties- Provide engaging and effective teaching in aircraft maintenance principles while developing curricula aligned with industry standards.
- Create a positive classroom atmosphere that encourages student participation and offers individualized support to enhance student success.
- Oversee administrative responsibilities, including maintaining accurate records and ensuring compliance with industry regulations and standards.
This position ensures that the aircraft maintenance training program effectively prepares students for careers in aviation, aligning with industry standards and contributing to the overall success of the institution.
Job Responsibilities- Teach classes on a scheduled basis, creating an inclusive and welcoming environment that fosters student engagement and enhances learning in aircraft maintenance.
- Collaborate with the Program Coordinator, Campus Director of Education, and Campus Executive Director to develop and refine curriculum, prepare course materials, and schedule classes.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe classroom and laboratory environment, ensuring tools and equipment are properly maintained for student use.
- Establish and maintain accurate academic and attendance records for each student, submitting attendance, grades, evaluations, and other documentation as required by institutional procedures.
- Proactively notify the Supervisor of any current or potential issues and implement retention techniques to support student success.
- Complete assigned performance-based teacher education modules, participate in classroom observations and instructor evaluations, and respond to student feedback.
- Attend and/or lead in-service training sessions, faculty meetings, and other mandatory gatherings to ensure ongoing professional development.
- Assist in managing the inventory of department equipment and supplies, submitting replenishment requests as needed.
- Monitor student attendance closely and alert the Supervisor to any absences to address retention issues.
- Complete other tasks and projects as assigned by the Supervisor.
- FAA Airframe and Powerplant Mechanic Certificate
- High School Diploma or GED
- Minimum three (3) years of hands-on experience in aircraft maintenance (special considerations given for more diverse experience)
- Strong command of both theoretical and practical aspects of aircraft maintenance with ongoing professional development
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, performance-driven, and compliance-oriented educational setting
- Detail-oriented, analytical, and highly organized with the ability to multitask and work under pressure
- Demonstrate integrity, a strong work ethic, and professionalism
- Effective verbal and written communication skills with emphasis on customer service in an educational context
- Highly motivated and goal-oriented with strong problem-solving abilities
- Ability to work independently and in a team with excellent interpersonal skills
- Excellent computer skills, including proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, SharePoint, Teams)
- Willingness to work outside regular shifts (evenings and weekends) as needed
- Associate’s degree in related field
- Campus Nexus experience
Applicants will be considered for one of the following schedules:
- Option 1:
Monday - Thursday: 7:30am - 2:00pm - Option 2:
Monday - Thursday: 5:00pm – 11:00pm - Option 3:
Friday – Sunday: 7:30am – 4:30pm
The compensation for this position is up to $34.00 per hour
, based on experience and qualifications.
