Special Education Teacher Pool (AU & )
Apply for the Special Education Teacher Pool (AU & ) role at Fulton County Schools. We are looking for dedicated educators who can provide instruction to students with disabilities, supporting learning and improving student achievement.
Responsibilities- Develop or select and modify lessons and materials to meet individual student needs.
- Utilize special methodology for instruction to support student progress using GPS standards.
- Develop, implement, monitor, and review the Individualized Education Program (IEP) for each student on the caseload.
- Address the unique needs of students in the caseload, e.g., lifting and positioning moderately intellectually disabled, orthopedically impaired, severely and profoundly disabled students, or providing support for deaf/hard‑of‑hearing students.
- Administer evaluations of student progress on an ongoing basis and maintain appropriate records.
- Follow due process procedures for all referred and eligible students with disabilities.
- Meet expectations according to the general education teacher job description.
- Work with parents/guardians in all aspects of the student’s educational program.
- Facilitate home‑school communication by holding conferences, telephoning, and sending written communications.
- Use technology to support instruction.
- Serve as a resource to general education faculty, administrators, and related services personnel.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the appropriate administrator.
Bachelor’s Degree.
Certification/LicensureValid Georgia Teacher Certification with the required area of specialization.
Experience Qualifications0–1 year classroom experience required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities- Proven communication and instructional strategies.
- Classroom management skills.
- Knowledge of IDEA and due process requirements.
- Excellent communication skills, both orally and in writing.
- Excellent organizational skills.
- Knowledge of basic first aid methods and techniques for positioning and moving physically challenged students.
- Classroom environment.
- Ability to lift and carry 30–50 pounds with assistance.
- May have to push or pull a maximum of 50 pounds.
- May require stooping or crouching.
- May involve diapering, catheterizing, lifting, positioning, tube feeding, and assisting with eating and toileting.
