Job Overview
CDM Smith is looking for an entry‑level Geologist to join our Environmental Services team in Atlanta. Under direct supervision, the candidate will perform basic geological and seismic evaluations, fault rupture hazard and slope stability investigations, and hydrogeologic analyses in surface and subsurface conditions related to water supply, contaminant and/or geotechnical assessments.
Responsibilities- Conduct well geological logging, water sampling, surface geological mapping, aquifer testing, and soils characterization.
- Prepare cross sections, iso‑concentration maps, and QA/QC analysis.
- Develop draft evaluations and calculations to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
- Contribute to firm’s technical knowledge management by authoring white papers, technical design documentation, and submissions to technical journals.
- Represent the firm at conferences, symposia, and other events to promote visibility of projects and services.
- Perform other duties as required.
- Bachelor’s degree in science or a related discipline.
- 0 years of experience (equivalent directly related experience may be considered).
- Domestic and/or international travel may be required (travel frequency will vary with workload and project demands).
An appropriate and valid driver’s license is required.
Preferred Qualifications- Graduation in Summer 2026.
- Experience with CADD 3D/4D software and Microsoft business software (Excel, Word, etc.).
- Basic knowledge of computer‑assisted design and drafting techniques.
- Knowledge of Microsoft business software.
- Strong communication skills.
- Basic knowledge of scientific methods and processes.
