OverviewThe role focuses on process engineering design and project management for capital projects across the European grid, with cross-site collaboration and a strong emphasis on sustainability and value creation.
Responsibilities- Process Engineering Design:
Produce conceptual, basic, and detailed process engineering design packages including calculations, datasheets, P&IDs, and model development in E3D. - Managing Project Design Phase:
Coordinate internal and external discipline engineering resources to prepare complete design packages to a ready-for-construction stage; identify and qualify external engineering resources as needed. - Feasibility Studies:
Conduct feasibility studies, and prepare cost estimates, schedules, and resource requirements for new plants and major modifications. - Safety in Design:
Apply process engineering knowledge, ensure compliance with Management of Change, Process Hazard Analysis, and design reviews to meet national and company engineering standards. - Project Management:
Manage projects through the lifecycle to meet scope, schedule, budget, and HSE requirements; conduct stage-gate reviews. - Project Sanction & Reporting:
Obtain financial approval for projects and compile reports for stakeholders. - EU Project Leadership:
Lead, define, plan, and execute key capital projects with site teams and European engineering resources.
(Required Skills/Abilities)
- Degree in Chemical Engineering.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision and manage multiple tasks.
- Good interpersonal skills; able to work in a matrixed organization and with site teams.
- Good written and verbal communication in Finnish (also proficient in English).
- 5–10 years of Process Engineering & Project Management experience in chemical or related industries.
- Experience with AutoCAD / E3D / Aveva / MS Teams / MS Project is a plus.
The role requires frequent travel to UK and mainland Europe sites. Initially, the postholder will be primarily at Bakelite Kitee, Finland, with travel to other sites at about 25% for the first 2 years; subsequently travel may be up to 50% of the time.
