Structural Engineer - Tyndall AFB

Panama City, FL

Base pay range
: $/hr - $/hr

Responsibilities
  • Provides professional structural engineering and construction management support by serving as a general engineer, delivering technical leadership and expertise in managing contractor‑executed construction projects.
  • Serves as the organizational subject‑matter expert regarding national standards and practices for structural engineering designs, foundation analysis for horizontal and vertical construction, including facility material selection and approval for buildings, roads, bridges, dams, and other structures.
  • Participates in design reviews and provides comments on contractor‑submitted structural engineering designs and plans.
  • Provides quality assurance oversight, documents oversight, and recommends corrective actions to ensure high‑quality performance.
  • Provides safety oversight, documents such oversight, and directs corrective actions to ensure worker and public safety.
  • Assists in interpreting and enforcing contractual provisions regarding contractor structural engineering requirements and deliverables; documents and reports on contractor progress.
  • Recommends authorization of progress payments based on observed contract progress.
Education / Experience
  • Current Professional Engineer license within the State of Florida.
  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience as a structural engineer on large, complex multimillion‑dollar federal construction projects, preferably Department of Defense.
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering.
  • Demonstrated experience working with coastal projects and high wind loads.
  • Experience with Resident Management System (RMS) and Microsoft Office.
  • Experience with federal facilities including administrative buildings, airfield facilities, and multi‑use facilities.
