Electrical Project Engineer – Hazen & Sawyer

Location: Atlanta, GA

Key Responsibilities
  • Design medium and low voltage power distribution, including generator design, motor controls, VFDs, lighting, and equipment layout for water and wastewater facilities.
  • Prepare project specifications and edit corporate electrical master specifications.
  • Serve as lead electrical engineer on multiple concurrent projects, ensuring scope, schedule, and budget compliance.
  • Perform site visits from conceptual design through construction.
  • Conduct electrical design work in AutoCAD and/or Revit.
  • Perform power system studies in SKM and/or ETAP.
  • Manage construction administration tasks: review shop drawings, respond to RFI, change orders, and related tasks.
  • Conduct factory witness testing and participate in field testing and startup of electrical systems.
  • Represent the electrical discipline in client project meetings and coordinate with other disciplines.
  • Mentor less experienced electrical staff.
  • Assist in business development, including proposal preparation and project scope/fee documentation.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering.
  • 5–14 years of heavy industrial electrical engineering experience.
  • Registered professional engineer in at least one U.S. state; ability to obtain licensing in additional states.
  • Experience with SKM or ETAP power system software.
  • Experience with AutoCAD and/or Revit BIM software.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products.
  • Strong communication skills for client, contractor, and inter‑disciplinary interactions.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in the Water/Wastewater industry.
  • Experience with Bluebeam software and Bluebeam Studio.
  • Experience with instrumentation and control systems (PLCs, operator interfaces, and instruments).
