About The Pond
We are seeking an Environmental Discipline/Project Manager to build our growing EWR (Environmental and Water Resources) team in either the Denver, CO, Houston, TX, or Atlanta offices. This role would have a specific focus on clients regulated by the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC). The ideal candidate possesses a minimum of 15+ years of related experience focused on detailed permitting and regulatory review and licensing of energy projects.
The successful candidate would coordinate with our existing Energy team and clients to facilitate completion of FERC documents and reviews completed by our National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) team. Additional duties will include mentoring junior staff, directing and leading various projects, and supporting non-technical project managers with client communications. As part of EWR’s leadership team, the successful candidate would interface with clients, pursue opportunities, serve as a thought leader, and help develop Pond’s brand.
About Our Team
Our team of environmental professionals includes scientists, ecologists and engineers. Our EWR team is engaged in projects throughout the southeast and our existing client base includes local municipalities, state agencies, various federal agencies, non-profit organizations, and private clients. The successful candidate would be an integral part of our growing team and would have the opportunity to engage across markets and geographies.
Knowledge And Experience
- Manage multiple projects in various phases of development and geographic location ranging from routing/siting phase to construction compliance phase
- Manage and direct resource teams on environmental studies and associated permit applications including FERC Section 7 applications, Blanket Project authorizations, and Third-party EA/EIS documents
- Coordinate with federal, state, and local agencies for project permitting
- Interest in generation of business development leads, written proposals and presentations, and project work capture
- Work collaboratively with multi-disciplinary teams which could include engineers, attorneys, planners, GIS analysts, permitting and environmental resource specialists, land agents, and construction compliance monitors
- Communicate with the public and community stakeholders at hearings and public meetings
- Client coordination including preparing and monitoring project scope, budget, schedule, and forecasting
- Participate in field reviews, project compliance inspections, and site meetings
- Travel up to 25% of time for client and internal meetings
Required Qualifications
- B.S. or B.A. in Environmental Planning, Geography, Environmental Science, or related degree
- Minimum fifteen (15) years of professional experience managing environmental licensing and permitting of pipelines
- Expertise in regulations pursuant to the Natural Gas Act administered by FERC with a working knowledge in other applicable federal environmental regulations is required
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, defining and understanding client requirements, managing expectations, communicating with clients and project staff
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite of programs (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc)
- Self-starter with strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional certifications as applicable to technical expertise
- Master's degree in Environmental Planning, Geography, Environmental Science, or related degree
