Water/Wastewater Operations Specialist - East Region

Black & Veatch is looking for a Water/Wastewater Operations Specialist to join our East Region team. This staff level position is full‑time and requires travel up to 75%.

Location: East region (travel up to 75%)

Salary range: $60,000 – $80,000 (1 month ago)

• Provide startup, commissioning and troubleshooting services for conventional wastewater treatment, advanced wastewater treatment, biosolids, groundwater systems with chlorination in hydrogen sulfide removal/softening systems, conventional surface water treatment, advanced disinfection/filtration systems.
• Prepare standard operating procedures, energy control procedures, job safety analysis, and operation and maintenance manuals for new and existing facilities.
• Perform onsite training of operations staff.
• Evaluate staffing, operating costs, and system redundancy for reliable operations.
• Travel up to 75%.

• At least 10 years of experience in wastewater operations or commissioning of wastewater plants, and water treatment operations and/or commissioning of water treatment plants.
• Plant startup and commissioning experience a must.
• Technical writing skills and basic computer skills (Word, Excel, PDF, Visio) are a must.
• Water/Wastewater Operator License is preferred.

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering technology, sciences, or other related degree, specialized training or experience that uniquely qualifies the candidate.
• Minimum 5 years of related work experience.
• Valid driver's license required.
• Must complete pre‑employment onboarding requirements (background check, drug screen, motor vehicle records search).

• Potential travel up to 75%.
• Hybrid work model: three days office, two days remote. Preferred candidates are within commutable distance to any Black & Veatch office.
