Senior Mechanical Engineer Analyst 2 (Power Uprates) - Nuclear

Join Sargent & Lundy as a Senior Mechanical Engineer Analyst 2 (Power Uprates) - Nuclear to lead mechanical analysis for nuclear power uprate projects.

This hybrid position requires in‑office work 3 days per week at the Sargent & Lundy office in Peachtree Corners, GA.

• Develop and lead licensing basis system and component evaluations for nuclear power uprate projects.
• Apply thermodynamics, heat transfer, fluid mechanics, and power plant engineering knowledge to consulting level work for power uprates.
• Prepare and review calculations related to heat balances, power train pumps, heat exchangers, condenser/heat sink, and plant hazards.
• Create task reports and equipment evaluations that present technical information clearly and concisely to meet client requirements.
• Perform equipment sizing, optimization evaluation, and selection to support the proposed power uprate.
• Interface with clients and project teams to present technical discussions and project status.
• Attend client meetings and site walkdowns to validate scope and ensure client satisfaction.

• B.S. Mechanical Engineering from an ABET‑accredited program.
• 7+ years of experience in the nuclear power industry.
• Experience with nuclear power uprates and/or turbine retrofit projects.
• Strong background in thermodynamics, heat transfer, fluid mechanics, and heat balance calculations.
• Proficiency in mechanical engineering design of nuclear power plants and knowledge of applicable codes, standards, and regulations.
• Excellent technical report writing skills.
• Proficiency with MS Office applications.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
