OverviewWe are seeking a highly skilled Senior Mechanical Engineer with strong experience in electro/mecanical hardware design, specifically in the design of next‑generation optical transceivers and interconnects. The ideal candidate will bring a proven track record of successful project execution and be able to design housings for optical networking products that are manufacturable, reliable, and meet performance targets in a fast‑paced R&D environment.
Dutiesand Responsibilities
- Conceptualize, design, and develop mechanical housings for optical networking products using PTC Creo.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams (optical, hardware, packaging, test, manufacturing) to understand project requirements and ensure they are met.
- Create detailed design drawings and 3D models.
- Perform design validation tests, root‑cause analysis, and troubleshoot issues to optimize product design.
- Conduct thermal analyses and simulations with Ansys Icepak.
- Communicate with suppliers and manufacturers to ensure smooth production and resolve design‑related issues.
- Ensure compliance with MSA standards (e.g., QSFP‑DD, OSFP) and mechanical interface specifications for data center environments.
- Define tooling, fixtures, and assembly instructions for precise optical and mechanical builds in collaboration with global vendors and suppliers.
- Work with suppliers for component selection and procurement.
- Ensure systems comply with safety and regulatory standards.
- Manage project timelines and milestones effectively.
- Stay updated with industry trends, technological advancements, and best practices to improve system performance.
- B.S. or higher in Mechanical Engineering, Opto‑Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
- 7+ years of experience in optical networking (open‑line systems, optical terminals, pluggable optics) or related hardware.
- Familiarity with mechanical reliability testing (shock, vibration, thermal cycling).
- Proven experience using Creo software and other engineering tools.
- Knowledge of safety standards and regulatory compliance.
- Strong understanding of mechanical engineering principles and concepts.
- Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and in cross‑functional teams.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
