Utility Engagement Program Manager

Summary

Utility Development Program Manager will be responsible for overall planning and execution of QTS utility capacity needs portfolio-wide. This leader will ultimately ensure utility capacity is prepositioned and delivered at each campus to support data centers by leading execution of all substation and utility build projects. The role will interface and collaborate with many critical stakeholders, including energy leaders responsible for utility contracts and negotiations, operations leaders managing load growth projections, and development team project leaders planning and building new data centers.

• Create and implement strategy to ensure timely delivery of power delivery to development sites as needed to support existing and future leases.
• Serve on the diligence team to advise and evaluate utility capacity feasibility of potential new sites.
• Manage partners and consultants related to electrical substation design and construction.
• Lead in standardization of utility substation design, including distribution feeds to multiple buildings.
• Manage budgets and cost forecasting of utility projects, including construction and equipment.
• Develop transformer and equipment specifications.
• Procure substation long‑lead equipment and transformers.
• Procure and manage construction of multiple substation sites simultaneously.
• Track and report on status and schedule of power delivery timelines.

• Five or more years of medium/high voltage construction management.
• Five or more years of experience running multiple projects at the same time or related professional experience.
• Knowledge of substation industry partners and transformer manufacturers.
• Bachelor's degree in Electrical engineering or equivalent experience.
• Be able to travel up to 50% of the time or as needed to support projects.
• Demonstrated experience working directly with executives and collaborating effectively across all levels of the organization.

• Ten plus years of electrical substation design or construction.
• Experience as licensed electrician engineer with focus on MV/HV work.
• Technical expertise in high and medium voltage electrical design.
• Experience managing a large portfolio of work.

• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to independently manage deadlines and support staff.
• Ability to influence cross‑discipline teams.
• Ability to be flexible and adapt to changing situations at a high growth company.
• Ability to prioritize, multitask, and deliver high quality work in tight time frames.
