Senior Early Careers Program Coordinator at WSP USA Job Description
WSP is currently initiating a search for a Full-Time Early Career Geologist for our Atlanta, GA office. In this role you will be a part of the Site Assessment & Remediation business unit, supporting environmental projects that involve field studies, report preparation, budget management, and interaction with coworkers, clients, subcontractors, and regulators.
Projects will include groundwater, surface water, soil, and air sampling; environmental site assessments; regulatory permitting; subsurface site characterizations involving drilling, soil classification, and bedrock mapping; and hazardous waste site characterization and remediation.
Impact- Support a wide range of environmental and engineering projects, from conceptual site model development to design and implementation of remediation and risk management strategies.
- Conduct field exercises including drilling, geologic logging, well installation, sampling of various media, and hydrogeologic testing.
- Undertake project‑based travel and site work, both within the United States and internationally. The frequency and duration of project‑based travel will depend on business and client needs.
- Maintain quality control standards and procedures for accurate and precise measurements.
- Generate complete, accurate, and concise documentation using electronic systems and field/work site notebook.
- Prepare data and visualizations such as tables, charts, reports, models, cross‑sections, boring logs, and figures for the interpretation and/or presentation of data, findings, and/or analyses.
- Comply with safety guidelines and site‑specific procedures which include but are not limited to the maintenance of sample collection, location data, laboratory documentation, and logbooks.
- Utilize the latest technologies and techniques in performing studies and analysis of organic and inorganic compounds to determine their composition.
- Complete training on assigned tasks.
- Exercise responsible and ethical decision‑making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
- Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Geology, Hydrogeology, or closely related discipline.
- The ability to obtain professional licensure (GIT and/or PG).
- Ability to operate, troubleshoot, and maintain field testing and monitoring equipment.
- Ability to lift and transport a minimum of 50 pounds on a regular basis during the course of field work.
- Safely operate a motor vehicle on behalf of the company.
- Excellent research skills with analytical mindset.
- Familiarity with the concepts of reducing and eliminating the use or generation of hazardous substances, processes, or products.
- Familiarity with relevant environmental laws, regulations, compliance practices, and record‑keeping requirements.
- Competent interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others, expressing ideas effectively and professionally to a scientific and non‑scientific audience.
- Proficient self‑leadership with attention to detail, multi‑tasking, and prioritization of responsibilities in a dynamic work environment.
- Ability to work independently under general supervision, as well as part of a team to meet business objectives.
- Basic proficiency with technical writing, office automation and communication software, technology, and tools.
- Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
- Ability to work schedules conducive to project‑specific requirements that may extend beyond the typical workweek.
- Willingness to travel for field work as dictated by project demands, which could be as much as 75% of the time and to periodically adjust personal schedules to meet project needs.
- The selected candidate must have the ability to work in the United States immediately.
- Must be able to pass a HAZWOPER physical and be medically able to wear a tight‑fitting respirator / Fit for Duty Exam / Medical Exam.
