AECOM seeks a highly motivated and talented Hydraulics Engineer‑Modeler to lead water utility planning assignments across multiple U.S. locations, including Raleigh, Charlotte, Miami, Tampa, Atlanta, Columbia, Roanoke, and Virginia Beach. The successful candidate will collaborate with the Southeast Modeling Group on national projects, evaluating potable and reclaimed water distribution systems, capacity analysis, condition assessments, storage and pumping evaluations, and master planning for federal, private, and municipal clients.
Responsibilities- Plan drinking water utility systems, including supply, transmission, pumping, storage, and distribution.
- Use Auto Desk Innovyze, Bentley Water
GEMS, ESRI ArcGIS, AutoCAD Civil 3D, Microsoft Office, and related software for hydraulic modeling projects. - Build, calibrate, validate, and analyze hydraulic models; interpret results and prepare technical reports.
- Present technical findings to clients, regulatory agencies, and stakeholder groups; provide training as needed.
- Lead a team of Level 1 and Level 2 hydraulic modelers, training them in modeling software and related skills.
- Assist with task and effort estimates for proposals.
- Apply engineering principles to develop solutions for technical problems with limited scope.
- Gather and correlate primary engineering data using established procedures and practices.
- Perform routine or detailed engineering assignments involving calculations and analysis.
- Collaborate both independently and as part of a dynamic team.
- Record, analyze, and interpret data; compare findings to relevant studies and regulations to ensure compliance.
- Work under the supervision of senior team members on hydraulic modeling assignments.
- Maintain positive working relationships with peers and clients.
- BA/BS in civil/environmental engineering or related discipline +4 years of related experience or equivalent.
- Experience with water system hydraulic modeling software (Autodesk Innovyze, Bentley Water
GEMS). - GIS experience and demonstrated ability to work through GIS platforms.
- Willingness to travel up to 2 weeks at a time for occasional field investigations.
- U.S. citizenship required.
- 6+ years of related experience.
- Enthusiastic, hard‑working, technically proficient, with ambition and drive.
- P.E. in North Carolina or ability to obtain the license within 6 months.
- Experience with wastewater modeling software (e.g., Autodesk Info Works).
- Planning, permitting, and design experience for water distribution, storage, and pumping projects.
- Engineering Intern certificate.
- This position does not offer relocation assistance.
