Structures CAD Designer – South Florida
HDR is currently seeking a Structures CAD Designer to join our team in South Florida.
Primary Responsibilities- Prepare detailed drawings, layouts and sketches for conventional concrete and steel bridges, retaining walls and miscellaneous structures using computer-aided design software.
- Develop details for complex concrete and steel bridges which may include prestressed concrete, post‑tensioned concrete, steel plate girder, truss systems, segmental and cable‑stayed.
- Typical projects will be for highway, transit, and railway projects.
- Work independently with direction from supervisor and engineers.
- Associate’s degree in Engineering Technology.
- Experience in structures drafting or related projects.
- Experience working with BIM and 3D CAD software platforms.
- Experience interpreting as-built plans for existing structures.
- Ability to use Excel to calculate quantities for cost estimating purposes.
- Ability and willingness to work cooperatively with project team members.
- Preference given to local candidates.
- Technical degree or a combination of education and related industry experience.
- A minimum of 5 years related industry experience.
- Advanced skillset of 3D design software and document management infrastructure.
- Advanced skillset of 3D Coordination tool.
- Competency of Microsoft Office products and communication tools.
- Advanced understanding of engineering or architectural concepts.
- Knowledge of industry standards and practices, along with discipline codes and specifications.
- Excellent communication skills, attention to detail and organizational traits are essential.
