Job Title: Maintenance Specialist 3 – Planning

Contract Type: Long-Term Contract

Position Summary

The Maintenance Specialist 3 is responsible for developing, coordinating, and scheduling maintenance and operational plans for mechanical systems—and some electrical systems—to ensure compliance with regulatory, reliability, and safety standards. This role includes preparing detailed job plans, organizing maintenance activities, and partnering with engineering and operations teams to support safe and efficient plant performance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop maintenance and operational plans for mechanical systems in alignment with safety and regulatory requirements.
  • Support planning efforts for electrical maintenance activities as needed.
  • Lead daily, weekly, and 4-week maintenance planning cycles.
  • Analyze equipment performance and maintenance data to identify reliability and efficiency improvements.
Job Planning & Scheduling
  • Prepare detailed mechanical and electrical job plans, including labor, tools, materials, PPE, and safety considerations.
  • Coordinate with maintenance supervisors, engineering, operations, and procurement to ensure resource availability.
  • Maintain accurate job plans, schedules, and work order updates within the CMMS (Maximo or equivalent).
Execution & Coordination
  • Facilitate daily and weekly planning meetings across departments.
  • Review completed work orders and use feedback to improve future plans.
  • Adjust maintenance schedules based on priorities and emergent needs.
  • Identify and implement improvements to maintenance planning processes and reliability practices.
  • Participate in root cause analyses, corrective action plans, and reliability improvement initiatives.
  • Support training and development related to maintenance planning best practices.
Required Qualifications
  • 10+ years of experience in planning mechanical maintenance activities within an industrial or heavy equipment environment.
  • Strong technical understanding of mechanical systems and working knowledge of electrical systems.
  • Experience creating technical documentation and maintenance procedures.
  • Proficiency with CMMS software (Maximo, SAP, or similar).
  • Strong communication, coordination, and organizational skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Maintenance Management or a related technical field.
  • Experience with Reliability-Centered Maintenance (RCM), PM optimization, or maintenance KPI development.
  • Demonstrated ability to support reliability and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Strong safety mindset and familiarity with industrial safety standards.
