Overview
We are seeking a Mid‑Level Scientist to join our team in Atlanta, GA. Your role involves evaluating environmental impacts of transportation projects, conducting field investigations, performing GIS mapping, and preparing technical reports that coordinate with state and federal agencies.
Responsibilities- Develop project task schedules and document required ecological permits, prioritized by baseline schedules.
- Provide status updates at project meetings and maintain tracking databases.
- Assess impacts of transportation projects on natural resources and identify opportunities to minimize potential effects.
- Coordinate with design professionals and the overall project team to accurately depict natural resources on construction plans.
- Lead field investigations, including wetland and stream delineations with functional assessments per applicable methodologies.
- Perform GPS field mapping, post‑processing, and distribute GPS‑mapped resources in multiple formats.
- Collect, analyze, and interpret quantitative and qualitative data on projects of varying complexity within Georgia and the southeast.
- Map and describe on‑site habitats, identifying those suitable to support protected species.
- Prepare documentation and technical reports detailing findings of ecological surveys and coordinate with state and federal agencies.
- B.A./B.S. or M.S. in a scientific discipline; minimum three years of experience since Bachelor’s degree or two years with Master’s degree.
- Experience reviewing and interpreting construction plans.
- Knowledge of NEPA documentation and/or Phase 1 Environmental Site Assessments preferred.
- Proficiency with MS Office, ArcGIS/Arc Pro, and GPS.
- Experience working with GDOT and linear projects with federal funding is a plus.
- Strong botanical identification skills within southeastern ecoregions.
- Completed GDOT pre‑qualification training in Ecology.
- Excellent technical writing and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational, task and time management, deductive reasoning, and analytical skills.
- Professional attitude and attention to detail while working alone and in a team environment.

CompensationExpected compensation range is between $75,000 – $95,000 annually depending on skills, experience, and geographic location.
