The Sales Engineer Manager is a remote role based out of the Southeast region of the United States. This position is responsible for managing all relationships with our customers and ensuring that their requirements are always met. The Sales Engineer Manager will regularly monitor and enforce quality practices at each stage of the process to maintain customer satisfaction.
Sales Engineers use their technical knowledge and sales skills to help customers understand the value of a product or service. They work closely with customers to understand their needs, suggest solutions, and address concerns.
- Create, grow, and maintain sales of SWM products and technical solutions to new and existing customers in various industries (laminates, medical, food packaging, water filtration, etc.).
- Act as a technical expert that differentiates SWM from competitors and drives profitable sales, both in acquiring new customers and in the growth and retention of existing ones.
- Differentiates SWM paper solution offerings from competitors by understanding prospect/customer needs and objectives.
- Apply creativity, innovation, and a value-added technical sales approach that improves the customer’s manufacturing processes.
- Collaborate with internal teams to gather technical requirements and ensure the successful implementation of solutions.
- Maintain the existing customer base through process knowledge and technical expertise, and assist in relationship selling.
- Obtain insight regarding industry trends and opportunities for development of new application technologies or improvement of existing solutions.
- Develop and employ an industry network (e.g., industry players, complementary suppliers, academics) to enhance SWM prioritization and performance.
- Bridge the gap between the technical aspects and the customer's needs.
- Responsible for application equipment/technical solution design for the target industry, working closely with sales, global R&D, and product management teams.
- Develop and deliver actions that precede successful value creation through application of technical solutions such as customer process audits, maintaining technical knowledge and competence in the company's solutions, technologies, and services, as well as alternative and competitive technical solutions.
- Identify pain points and work on solutions to keep customers satisfied and engaged.
- Responsible for monitoring metrics and implementing initiatives to drive improvement.
Required Education &
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field, preferably Chemical, Paper or Manufacturing.
- At least five (5) years of related experience, including application or sales of technical solutions in paper processing, commercialization or manufacturing environments.
- Ability to work with others as a team.
- Ability to build client relationships easily.
- Analytical ability and strong problem‑solving skills.
- Presentation skills and ability to convey product value.
- High-level organizational skills for maintaining a sales territory.
- Self‑confidence to support persuasion and sales efforts.
- Ability to travel up to 50%.
