This project will be working on‑site in Chamblee, GA!
Responsibilities- Observe and inspect construction work and prepare daily inspection reports.
- Typical duties include observation of daily construction work, tallying of quantities of installed bid items per the contract documents, including water/sewer piping lengths, poured concrete volumes, earthwork, erosion control measures, reinforced concrete, above‑ground process and plumbing, as well as mechanical and electrical equipment installation and start‑up.
- Interpret project drawings, observe construction work in progress, and check compliance with specifications, contract drawings, and approved submittals/shop drawings.
- Refer deviations from plans and specifications to management.
- Take part in reviewing submittals, assisting with requests for information (RFIs), and other related activities.
- Have general knowledge of construction techniques, design, and shop drawing comprehension of moderate complexity.
- Ability to learn on the job through observation and asking questions.
- Familiarity with the use of a computer and general software for reporting, including Kahua, Cityworks, or Newforma.
- High school diploma (GED) with 5+ years of experience in construction/inspection on a variety of municipal projects;
Associate’s Degree with 3+ years of experience; or a Bachelor's Degree in a related engineering field with 2+ years of experience. - Experience in water/wastewater facilities construction, including buried sanitary sewer piping (8‑inch to 36‑inch diameter), drinking water piping (8‑inch to 36‑inch diameter), earthwork and grading, erosion prevention and sediment control, roadways and driveways, cast‑in‑place (CIP) and precast concrete, mechanical and electrical equipment installation (pumps, motors, generators), and masonry building construction.
- Licenses/registrations/certifications are encouraged; applicants may be required to participate in certification and training courses post‑hire as required by OSHA, industry, and/or client‑specific requirements (e.g., concrete, asphalt, erosion control, environmental, hazardous materials training).
- Physical demands:
Walk frequently, stand, sit, use hands to operate, and handle tools or equipment; lift or move up to 25 lbs frequently, occasionally >25 lbs; ability to talk, see, hear, reach with hands and arms, walk, stand, or stoop. - Work environment:
Field – outdoors; exposed to environmental elements including humidity, dust, noise, and various temperatures; work in high‑traffic areas. - Use of personal protective equipment is required and provided by the firm.
- Valid driver’s license.
