Duties, Responsibilities & Other

This position is for a traffic engineer with 2 or more years of relevant experience to work on public and private sector traffic engineering projects. Typical assignments will include traffic modeling, traffic impact analysis reports, traffic signal design, signal timing plans, intelligent transportation systems (ITS) design, signing and striping plans, and corridor studies.

Duties Would Include The Following
  • Prepare traffic signal, pavement marking, signing, lighting, and maintenance of traffic plans
  • Prepare Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) design
  • Perform data collection
  • Perform traffic impact analyses
  • Prepare traffic and safety studies
  • Perform traffic analyses
  • Perform transportation planning studies
  • Prepare quantity and cost estimates
  • Prepare written reports
Qualifications
  • B.S.C.E. degree required
  • E.I.T. or P.E. certification preferred
  • Familiarity with standard references such as the AASHTO Green Book, the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices, the Highway Safety Manual and the Highway Capacity Manual
  • Familiarity with GDOT design standards and guidelines
  • Computer skills including training in CADD (MICROSTATION, OPEN ROADS), HCS, SYNCHRO/SIM‑TRAFFIC, Vistro, VISSIM, SIDRA, Microsoft WORD and Microsoft EXCEL
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Essential Duties and Responsibilities are the basic job functions that an employee must be able to perform, with or without reasonable accommodation
Education and/or Skills Required
  • 0-2 Years of experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an ABET‑Accredited Program
  • General knowledge of required design software (Micro Station, AutoCAD, Revit)
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Good communication and technical writing skills
  • Detail‑oriented with strong organizational skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
  • Strong problem‑solving skills and ability to think critically
Education and/or Work Experience Preferred
  • Previous internships or work experience in the Engineering field
Certificates, Licenses, and/or Registrations Required
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Ability to maintain required certifications
Certificates, Licenses, and/or Registrations Preferred
  • Engineer‑in‑Training (EIT) certification
