Job Description :
Binergy Scientific is a top innovator in the field of electrochemistry, energy storage, material science and sensors with primary focus on defense applications. We develop cutting-edge electrochemical power sources, thermal components, innovative materials, biosensors, and devices for emerging defense applications, munitions, hypersonic vehicles, and other systems. Our work focus ranges from development of initial concepts, laboratory demonstration, and production of fieldable prototypes covering TRL 1 to 7.
We are also involved in prototype manufacturing.
We are seeking a highly-motivated individual with a strong background in electrochemistry, material science, chemistry, mechanical engineering or relevant disciplines to contribute to the development of energy storage materials, batteries, and other emerging solutions for US DoD applications.
The emphasis of the position is to carry out work tasks in the areas of:
Electrochemical and other materials development, characterization, and testingDevelopment and testing of advanced energy storage systems/ electrochemical batteriesMechanical design, characterization, and testingImplementation of previously developed test methods and processes, investigation of improvements, optimization, experimental validation and documentation of new/refined design and performanceGenerating innovative ideas and solutions, preparation of compelling grant proposalsPreparation of technical reports and presentationsContribution to commercialization effortsThe position provides opportunities to grow and lead a dedicated R&D areaRequired Skills/Experience:
PhD in material science, electrochemistry, chemistry, mechanical engineering, or related engineering disciplinesPrevious experience with battery or other energy storage R&DExperience with mechanical designDevelopment of laboratory test assemblies and automation, experimental setups, data acquisition and data processing systemsWork experience at chemical or material science laboratoryHands on experience with material testing and characterization including SEM, XRD, XPS, TGA, DSC, and other analytical methodsKnowledge of CAD drafting (Solid Works)Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and the ability to work independently in a dynamic, fast-paced work environmentProject management experience and skillsTraining and managing of students and interns will be required, as well as managing laboratory technical personnel to follow the laboratory protocols including safety and waste managementDue to the project focus and funding from the Department of Defense, US citizenship is required (No exceptions)Desired Skills/Experience:
5+ yrs experience in battery, fuel cell, or supercapacitor industry preferredExperience with scaling up technologiesExperience with introduction of new manufacturing processesExperience with quality control in industrial manufacturingExperience with defense industry
