Responsibilities

Byers Engineering, a Mas Tec company, is seeking a full-time qualified Make Ready Engineer. Position requires experience with outside aerial pole loading analysis and make ready engineering, with a thorough knowledge of all procedures related to NESC and GO95 guidelines. Must have experience with obtaining necessary agreement, license, or any other type of approval regarding pole loading analysis and make ready engineering.

The Make Ready Engineer must work cohesively with the in-house MRE Engineering Team to ensure quality application packages are provided to the client.

  • Receive and review completed fiber network route design packages ensuring that each package meets customer specifications and guidelines.
  • Review project deliverables for accuracy and apprise project management team of risks, issues, and recommended mitigations.
  • Collaborate with in-house MRE Engineering Team to implement quality assurance practices to maintain consistent production quality throughout the project.
  • Read and understand fielding data, design prints, utility maps, pole loading analysis, make ready engineering, and as-builts to identify non-compliant designs.
  • Ensure the integrity of the customer access network is maintained and provide support for the deployment of access technologies.
  • Follow very specific and detailed procedures already implemented while remaining flexible enough to readily adapt to changing standards and procedures without notice.
Qualifications

Required Skills:

  • Solid background in Telecommunications with an emphasis on Pole Loading Analysis, MRE, and Quality Assurance
  • Sound MRE engineering experience deploying fiber optic networks - Knowledge of engineering principles within MRE job related functional area including general practices, procedures and industry standards.
  • Experience working all aspects of telecom with knowledge of NESC, GO95, NEC and OSHA standards.
  • Demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills with proven problem solving ability, self-motivation, leadership, and team building capabilities with the ability to negotiate and motivate others.
  • Proven ability to communicate effectively at multiple levels: from team members to executive management.
  • Knowledge of engineering tools including OCalc, AutoCAD, 3-GIS, or any similar GIS/KMZ platforms.
  • Proficient in Adobe, Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook, Google Sheets and Google Drive.
  • General understanding of joint use agreements and joint use management software such as NJUNS, SPAN, ALDEN ONE, etc.

Skills:

  • Possess STRONG communication & PEOPLE skills
  • Strong language skills are required, both oral & written
  • Show a “sense of urgency” to get the job done to meet all due dates
  • Follow-up with our customer and provide a status of any and all assigned work
  • Proven ability to communicate effectively at multiple levels: from team members to executive management.

Qualifications:

  • Qualify on pre-employment screening
  • Must pass a drug test
  • Obtain satisfactory results from a background/employment history investigation and drug screening
  • Possess a valid state driver’s license and non-negligent driving record
