Structural Engineer 6-Bridges
OverviewAs a member of this team you will contribute to CDM Smith's success by leading structural bridge design and construction planning for prestressed concrete, reinforced concrete, and structural steel bridges according to GDOT and AASHTO criteria.
Responsibilities- Lead teams to provide structural analyses, design, and final bridge construction plans for GDOT.
- Direct development of models, drawings, and specifications.
- Arrange and layout structural systems and elements for strength, stability, constructability, and construction economy.
- Review design calculations and quantity calculations for compliance with GDOT design criteria.
- Coordinate bridge design with other engineering disciplines.
- Ensure firm policies and practices are followed on all designs.
- Collaborate with sales staff to create proposals in response to current RFPs.
- Review draft proposals for adherence to firm, industry, state, local, and federal regulations and best practices.
- Meet with current and potential future clients to review their design needs.
- Attend conferences and symposia to improve visibility of firm products and services.
- Collaborate with clients and government officials to clarify technical questions and provide updates to project management.
- Perform other duties as required.
- Provide technical guidance and training to junior staff; mentor their growth.
- Supervise the work of junior engineers on project work.
- Bachelor's degree in Civil, Architectural, or Structural Engineering or related discipline.
- Professional engineering (PE) license.
- 10 years of related experience.
- Domestic and/or international travel may be required.
- Equivalent additional directly related experience considered in lieu of a degree.
- Master's Degree in Civil Engineering (Structural).
- Experience with GDOT Bridge Replacement Projects.
