Senior Wastewater Process Engineer

Location:

Virginia Beach, VA (over 200 process engineering staff support water, industrial, and next‑generation businesses.)

• Lead wastewater process engineering for conventional treatment systems including primary physical/chemical, activated sludge, biological nutrient removal, fixed‑film, membrane bioreactor (M ), sidestream, tertiary filtration, and disinfection.
• Provide technical guidance to multidisciplinary design teams and supervise engineering staff on projects.
• Develop and maintain engineering standards, design guides, and Black & Veatch policies.
• Prepare complex engineering deliverables, perform advanced calculations, and manage budgets, schedules, and quality requirements.
• Support continuous improvement, change management, and knowledge sharing initiatives.

• Master’s or doctoral degree in civil, environmental, or chemical engineering.
• 10+ years of wastewater treatment experience, with at least 5 years in process design, water quality analysis, regulatory compliance, and simulation (Bio Win, GPS‑X, Sumo, Simba).
• Advanced knowledge of municipal wastewater process design and applicable design guides and standards.
• Leadership and client‑service experience in consulting and project execution.
• Strong written and oral communication, priority setting, and team‑building skills.

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited program.
• Minimum of 11 years of related work experience.
• Ability to complete pre‑employment onboarding requirements.
