Job DescriptionCDM Smith is looking for an entry‑level Geologist to join our Environmental Services team in Atlanta.
ResponsibilitiesUnder direct supervision, performs basic to moderate complexity geologic and seismic evaluations, fault rupture hazard and slope stability investigations, hydrogeologic analysis (aquifer test analysis, geochemical analysis, geotechnical analysis, contaminant transport analysis, etc.) in both surface and subsurface conditions related to water supply, contaminant and/or geotechnical assessments. Activities may include well geologic logging, water sampling, surface geological mapping, aquifer testing and/or soils characterization, data compilation and evaluation.
Prepares cross sections, iso‑concentration maps, and QA/QC analysis. Develops draft evaluations and calculations for compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. Ensures firm policies and practices are followed on all assessments. Contributes to firm’s TKM by developing white papers and technical design documentation of new or special case designs and studies. Submits technical papers and designs for publishing to technical journals and attends conferences and symposia to improve visibility of the firm’s products and services in collaboration with sales staff.
Performs other duties as required.
- Bachelor’s degree in Science or related discipline.
- 0 years of experience (equivalent directly related experience considered).
- Domestic and/or international travel may be required; frequency contingent on duties and project demands.
- Summer 2026 graduates.
- Basic knowledge of computer‑assisted design and drafting (CADD) 3D and 4D software and practices.
- Knowledge of Microsoft business software (Excel, Word, etc.).
- Strong communications skills.
- Basic knowledge of scientific methods and processes.
