Barge Design Solutions, Inc. is looking for a Traffic Engineering Associate for our Georgia office. This position will be an embedded employee at the GDOT District Traffic Operations office in either Jesup, Georgia or Tennille, Georgia. Responsibilities- Prepare various types of traffic studies such as traffic engineering studies, intersection safety analysis, interchange analysis, and assist with corridor planning documents
- Provide intersection and corridor operational analysis
- Assist with the development of intersection operational improvements
- Prepare traffic signal and signing/pavement marking designs
- Use Synchro software to develop traffic analysis and help implement signal timing plans
- Participate in project site visits with other project team members as needed
- Assist with transportation planning studies as needed
- Perform and review traffic counts, speed studies, access permits, and safety studies for the Georgia Department of Transportation
- Prepare and review traffic studies to determine appropriate treatments and traffic control to resolve safety and congestion issues
- Work with other disciplines such as survey, roadway design, and environmental to increase engineering knowledge and facilitate successful project delivery
- Demonstrate strong attention to detail
- Perform other duties as requested
Education & Skills
- B.S. in Civil Engineering or related field from an accredited university
- 0-3 years transportation or traffic engineering experience preferred
- Knowledge and skill in Microsoft Office and Excel is a must. Knowledge of Synchro, HCS, VISSIM, ArcGIS, and Open Roads Designer is desired
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to work on multiple tasks simultaneously
- Basic familiarity with MUTCD and DOT Design Guidelines and Standards
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
