the role About Satwave AI

Satwave AI is an innovative Atlanta-based startup in the satellite communications industry. We design and build leading-edge flat-panel array antennas and advanced antenna systems for commercial, defense, and government customers. Our multidisciplinary team of software, embedded, electrical, hardware, and RF engineers carries designs from concept through test, integration, and delivery. In our small-team environment, each engineer has a direct effect on the product and the success of the company.

About

the role

We seek a passionate, hands-on Junior Electrical and Computer Engineer who wants to build a career in satellite communications and grow into broad technical ownership. Working with experienced electrical and RF engineers, this person will help develop advanced control, power, mixed-signal, and RF hardware from system requirements and schematic architecture through PCB implementation, prototype bring-up, verification, and release. The role goes well beyond PCB layout: the engineer will own board‑level test plans and procedures, drive thorough verification, participate in technical decisions and design reviews, and help establish stronger, more repeatable engineering practices across the company.

Prior RF or antenna experience is helpful but not required. We value strong electrical fundamentals, curiosity, disciplined execution, initiative, and the ability to learn quickly.

Education

Bachelor's degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a closely related discipline.

Responsibilities
  • Design printed circuit boards from initial requirements through schematic capture, layout, prototype bring‑up, verification, and release under the direction of senior electrical and RF engineers
  • Create clear schematics, select components, and maintain symbols, footprints, bills of materials, design notes, and interface documentation
  • Lay out multilayer digital, analog, power, mixed‑signal, and complex RF boards in Altium Designer or KiCad, including placement, routing, grounding, power distribution, and thermal considerations
  • Implement RF layout constraints defined by the RF team, such as controlled‑impedance transmission lines, isolation, return paths, matching and bias networks, via structures, and antenna interfaces
  • Review existing schematics, layouts, stackups, design rules, bills of materials, and manufacturing outputs; document issues and recommend practical corrections
  • Own board review workflows by preparing review packages, tracking review status, recording decisions, closing action items, and maintaining revision traceability
  • Prepare fabrication and assembly release packages, including Gerber or ODB++ data, drill files, drawings, pick‑and‑place data, bills of materials, and release notes
  • Plan and execute board‑level verification and validation, maintain requirements‑to‑test traceability, and provide objective evidence for release readiness
  • Write and own test plans and detailed test procedures; perform functional verification, analyze results, and document failures and corrective actions
  • Bring up and debug prototype hardware in the lab using oscilloscopes, digital multimeters, power supplies, VNAs, signal generators, spectrum…
