Job Description The Tax Specialist in the Research & Development Tax Credit group researches tax issues, conducts fieldwork, and supports sales and marketing efforts. The R&D group consists of regional teams directed by a national leader. A Staff Associate’s primary role will be to work under the direction of a Tax Senior Associate or Manager on projects from beginning to end.

They will be tasked with developing and maintaining client relationships as well as delivering a quality work product.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct fieldwork specific to consulting projects, including visiting client locations, touring facilities, investigating facts, analyzing accounting information, and preparing cost lead and summary schedules.
  • Complete appropriate tax computations and prepare written reports summarizing findings.
  • Ensure R&D projects are conducted in accordance with firm standards, completed on time, and within budget.
  • Demonstrate strong leadership skills and the ability to multi‑task across various project tasks.
  • Maintain command of federal and relevant state R&D rules and applicable court cases.

Required Skills/Abilities

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other MS Office suites.
  • Strong time management, multitasking abilities, and the capacity to meet deadlines.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree with a minimum 3.0 GPA.
  • Ability to work additional hours as needed and travel to various client sites.
  • Advanced degree is a plus.

Physical Requirements

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at a time.
