Summary

The Controller will be responsible for the accounting operations of the Company and will report to the Sr. Director of Finance. The successful candidate will be hands‑on and will be responsible for ensuring that transactions of the company have been properly accounted for and accurately reflect the company’s accounting policies and practices. The Controller will also oversee the cash management, accounts payable, accounts receivable, inventory, and payroll accounting functions.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Ensure the Company’s general ledger accounts are recorded properly in accordance with US GAAP and in a timely manner.
  • Coordinate the annual audit process and bank field exams.
  • Coordinate the monthly financial closing process including the preparation of the monthly financial statements.
  • Prepare and monitor monthly management reporting packages based on key financial and operating metrics.
  • Calculate variances from the budget and report significant issues to management.
  • Prepare and monitor weekly scorecards for each department.
  • Calculate and assess the adequacy of reserves such as E&O, bad debt, returns, etc.
  • Create and maintain a documented system of accounting policies and process narratives.
  • Develop formal internal controls to ensure accounts receivable are collected promptly, accounts payable are paid in a timely manner, inventory is turning, etc.
Qualifications

Education / Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance (Master’s degree preferred).
  • 7+ years of accounting/finance experience.
  • Experience with Oracle ERP Net Suite preferred.
  • Experience with a consumer goods company is strongly preferred.
  • Prior experience in an international company is a plus.
  • Public company accounting experience strongly preferred.
  • Progressive financial experience up to an equivalent position strongly preferred.
  • Strong leadership, analytical, quantitative, problem solving, technical and communication skills required.
  • Certified Public Accountant (preferred).
  • Demonstrated skills in leading and developing teams. Using strong communication skills in a collaborative environment is required.
