UNCLASSIFIED POSITION IN THE EMERGENCY SERVICES (E911) DEPARTMENT
STARTING SALARY FOR THIS POSITION IS $57,795.00
Minimum QualificationsHigh School Diploma or GED required to include four (4) years of Public Safety Emergency Dispatch experience to include two (2) years of lead or supervisory experience; or three (3) years of experience working as a E911 Communications Officer and released from all radio disciplines (Fulton County Government Emergency Services current or former employees only) to include two (2) years of lead or supervisory experience;
or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job. Experience credit will be granted for each active certification the applicant possesses from the list below.
Must possess and maintain Georgia Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) Certification (3). The following Certification MUST be attained within a year of employment and maintained during employment:
Georgia Crime Information Center (GCIC)/National Crime Information Center (NCIC) Certification (1), Emergency Medical Dispatch (EMD) Certification (1), Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Certification (1) and National Incident Management System (NIMS) courses (1). Employees of this classification must also complete the Association of Public‑Safety Communications Officials (APCO) Communications Center Supervisor within six months of promotion (1), and the (APCO) Registered Public‑Safety Leader (RPL) (3) must also be completed within two years of promotion/employment.
Knowledge, Skills, or Abilities
Must be able to demonstrate proficiency in performance of the essential functions and learn, comprehend, and apply all county or departmental policies, practices, and procedures necessary to function effectively in the position.
All applicants must agree to and successfully pass a background investigation, skills assessment, psychological evaluation, physical/drug screening, and polygraph to be considered for employment with the Fulton County Department of Emergency Services.
Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age. Must conform to the following qualifications as required by the Georgia Peace Officer Standards and Training Act:
Be a citizen of the United States;
Have a high school diploma or its recognized equivalent (G.E.D.);
Ability to type at a speed of not less than 25 net words per minute.
Skills Testing InformationDuring the interview process, candidates will be scheduled by the E911 Administrative Team to take the Criti Call, 911 dispatch test and data entry proficiency assessment(s).
Criti Call is a computerized pre‑employment test used to measure a person's underlying skills and abilities prior to any training they receive if they are hired as a public safety dispatcher or call taker. ExaminationThe examination will consist of an evaluation of education and experience, accomplished by analysis of the application. Application must document that the applicant possesses the minimum knowledge, skills, education and experience as listed to be rated as qualified. If selected, an official, accredited college transcript is required, at time of employment, for all degrees/course work used to qualify for this position.
