The Histotechnician/Histotechnologist is responsible for cutting, staining, and preparing tissue samples for review by the pathologist. They prioritize testing procedures, complete them accurately and promptly, and maintain precise records in accordance with policies, procedures, and regulations.

• Minimum Education: High school diploma or equivalent, plus coursework and/or clinical training in Histology to meet ASCP certification requirements (HT or HTL). Must meet Georgia Department of Human Resources Laboratory Licensure standards.
• Experience: Recent graduate from an accredited histology program and/or one year of technical experience in a surgical pathology lab.
• Licensure/Certification: Certification as a Histotechnologist or Histotechnician by ASCP or equivalent, with temporary classification available for recent movers to Georgia or recent graduates, valid for 18 months.
• Additional Qualifications: Preferably three years of experience in a surgical pathology laboratory.
