Ultrasound Sonographer (PRN)

Perform diagnostic quality sonography imaging procedures for patient care population, and participate as a member of the multidisciplinary team. Proactively support efforts that ensure the delivery of safe patient care and services. Promote a safe environment at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta.
Experience- No minimum experience required.
- Associate’s degree
- Experience in pediatrics
- Successful completion of an American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT), Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) or the Canadian Medical Association (CMA)-approved educational program.
- American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) Physics credential required in addition with at least one of the following credentials:
Abdomen, Pediatrics, Breast, RVT or Ob/Gyn, or American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) credential in sonography. - American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) credential in Pediatric Sonography (PS).
- Failure to complete credential within 24 months will result in termination.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days of employment.
- Good communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and patient management skills.
- Operates modality-specific technical equipment related to patient care imaging, image processing, transmission, archiving, and computerized electronic medical records. Updates the electronic medical records through order entry, exam scheduling, exam check-in, begin and end exams, exam verification, exam merging, and image rejection. Ensures accuracy of billing for radiology procedures.
- Provides radiologists and physicians with patient history relative to exam being performed and obtaining informed consent. Assists radiologists, as required, in the administration of contrast media and/or radioisotopes during exams. Collaborates with physicians, nurses, sedation/anesthesia personnel, and all staff members to ensure a safe outcome for the patient.
- Participates in departmental and modality-specific quality improvement initiatives, including ACR accreditation. Consistently demonstrates proficiency in performing radiologic examinations using appropriate standardized protocols to produce the highest quality images, evaluating images for technical quality prior to sending to PACS for interpretation by radiologists.
