In this role, you will conduct Compensation & Pension (C&P) Examinations for Veterans applying for disability compensation from the Department of Veteran Affairs (VA). The position involves reviewing the claim, performing focused assessments of claimed injuries, reviewing medical records, and potentially rendering a medical opinion based on the record review and completed C&P exam. Charting from home may be required.
These Medical Disability Examinations are crucial in the VA’s process for determining benefits Veterans can receive as a result of service‑connected health issues. Your clinical insights will facilitate access to treatment subspecialists and ensure continuity of care.
Clinical Examiners will be guided through a web‑based examination form in a proprietary online system. Qualified candidates must hold an active license, be able to work independently and collaboratively, demonstrate strong interpersonal skills, and be adaptable to changing situations. Basic computer skills are required.
Pay:
Base + Incentive = $ - $ per year.
- Conduct comprehensive medical disability examinations, including review of history, physical exams, and assessment of disability impact. 10% travel required to other LSGS clinics.
- Review and analyze medical records, diagnostic test results, and other pertinent documentation.
- Render objective medical opinions regarding the extent of the veteran’s health issues and their impact on the ability to work.
- Understand and use the case‑management system, submit findings, and correspond with the Quality Assurance Team.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals, specialists, and experts as needed.
- Document examination findings accurately in reports following VA guidelines.
- Partner with Loyal Source departments to meet deadlines and support performance.
- Manage time effectively and confirm availability for all C&P exams.
- Ensure compliance with laws, regulations, and standards related to disability examinations.
- Maintain compliance with VA training requirements and stay updated on MDE program requirements.
- Safeguard confidentiality of patient information in accordance with HIPAA and VA protocols.
- Graduated from an accredited Physician Assistant program.
- Valid, unrestricted Physician Assistant license in all U.S. states and territories.
- At least 1 year of experience as a Physician Assistant.
- Preferred prior experience in medical disability examinations or related field.
- Basic Life Support certification required.
- Previous military experience or familiarity with veteran communities preferred.
- Specialized training in Medical Disability Evaluations or occupational health advantageous.
- Demonstrated proficiency in comprehensive assessments, diagnostics, and evidence‑based opinions.
- Compassionate and patient‑centered approach.
- Strong analytical, communication, ethics, and integrity.
- Detail‑oriented and committed to accuracy and data quality.
- Independent and collaborative teamwork ability.
- Excellent organizational and time‑management skills; ability to handle multiple initiatives.
- Strong customer focus and sense of urgency.
- Authorized to work in the United States including federal contractor requirements.
Reasoning Ability: Common‑sense understanding, detailed instruction execution, problem‑solving with multiple variables.
Technological Ability: Competent with MS Word, MS Outlook, Adobe PDF, web‑based platforms, electronic medical records, Teams, and learning management systems.
Physical Requirements: Prolonged standing and sitting at a desk; able to lift up to 15 pounds; full range of motion necessary for physical exams.
Travel Requirements: 10% travel to support other clinics; additional travel for training or company events.
