Job DescriptionThrough a collaborative approach with the healthcare team and close supervision of a senior neurodiagnostic technologist, the Neurodiagnostic Technologist Level I will perform routine electroencephalogram studies (EEG) in outpatient and inpatient facilities following departmental and American Clinical Neurophysiology Society (ACNS) guidelines. May perform more complex neurodiagnostic studies upon completion of a department‑established training period. Supports and ensures comprehensive patient care focused on the integrity of the family system and patient care team.
Proactively supports efforts that ensure delivery of safe patient care and services promoting a safe environment at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta.
- 1 year of experience in an inpatient or outpatient setting
- Graduated from a CAAHEP accredited neurodiagnostic school or an ARBET recognized program
- Associate’s degree or higher
- Graduate from a CAAHEP accredited neurodiagnostic school
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days of employment
- Must receive R.EEG T. certification within two years of hire date
- Ability to demonstrate competencies key to the position within six months of hire
- Under close supervision of a senior neurodiagnostic tech, perform routine neurodiagnostic procedures in accordance with ACNS guidelines and may perform more complex studies after completing a period of training set by department guidelines.
- Continuously learn and apply basic and intermediate waveform recognition, relevant medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, infection control, and current HIPAA practices.
- Perform patient assessment related to care, such as electrode product allergies, movement restrictions, and cognitive function.
- Attend relevant courses, online courses, or case studies through journals/relevant publications.
- Document patient information in the electronic medical record according to hospital and departmental guidelines.
- Follow departmental guidelines to ensure the best patient care possible.
- Inform manager or designee of all patient/personal injury or unsafe situations, anticipated problems, and unusual situations, and complete appropriate related documentation according to departmental and hospital guidelines.
- Communicate effectively with patient/family, department staff, physicians, and other health care professionals to promote quality patient care.
- Work at alternative locations as needed to support patient care at the discretion of direct supervisor/manager or designee.
- Maintain continuing medical education and increase technical competencies.
