Job Summary:

The Physical Therapist II serves as a primary clinician, providing comprehensive physical therapy evaluations, treatments, and education to patients with complex medical and surgical conditions. This role involves collaborating with interdisciplinary teams, setting measurable patient goals, ensuring high‑quality care in alignment with established standards and serving as a Clinical Instructor for short‑term and long‑term students, and may assist with Residents.

Key Duties and Responsibilities
  • Patient Care & Treatment: 1. Conduct comprehensive evaluations, testing, and treatment for patients with complex medical and surgical conditions.
    2. Educate patients and their families in a manner tailored to their needs.
    3. Develop and adjust individualized treatment plans with clear, measurable goals.
    4. Ensure daily practices align with established patient care standards.
    5. Recommend appropriate equipment for patient care.
    6. Assist other staff in assessing patients and problems.
  • Collaboration & Communication: 1. Communicate effectively with patients, families, and the healthcare team.
    2. Participate in interdisciplinary team conferences to enhance patient care.
    3. Work cooperatively with other team members to maintain a positive and results‑oriented work environment.
    4. Collaborate with care teams and community resources for post‑discharge planning and follow‑up. 5. Respond to requests for professional information or advice, referring complex matters to appropriate personnel.
    6. Participate in quality assurance activities.
    7. Assist the department in performing peer reviews and giving feedback to support staff.
    8. Participate in patient care committee initiatives as requested by the department.
    9. Mentor staff when appropriate.
  • Operational Responsibilities: 1. Plan treatment schedules for optimal staff and equipment use. 2. Maintain productivity while adhering to quality standards.
    3. Monitor and ensure compliance with infection control and sterile technique protocols.
    4. Document patient care details and record service charges accurately.
    5. Manage inventory, equipment maintenance, and work area organization.
    6. Serve as a Clinical Instructor for short‑term and long‑term students and may assist with Residents.
    7. Assist with new staff orientation.
    8. Assist department in maintaining a clear and accurate interdisciplinary and interdepartmental information flow.
  • Professional Development & Compliance: 1. Attend relevant educational in‑services and professional activities to stay current on industry practices.
    2. Work with the Leader to develop a professional growth plan.
    3. Delegate tasks effectively as appropriate.
    4. Adhere to all applicable policies, protocols, and regulations.
    5. Support and participate in research activities as requested by the department.
    6. Contribute to the professional community and community form other related duties as assigned.
Minimum

Required Qualifications
  • Education: Graduation from a Physical Therapy Program accredited by CAPTE.
  • Experience: At least one year of clinical experience as a physical therapist.
  • Licensure: A valid, unencumbered Physical Therapist License approved by the Georgia Board of Physical Therapy.
  • Certifications: All candidates must have Basic Life Support (BLS).
Physical Requirements

Medium, Max 25 lbs: up to 25 lbs, 0‑33% of the workday (infrequently) – Lifting 25 lbs max; carrying objects up to 25 lbs; occasional to frequent standing & walking; occasional sitting; close eye work (computers, typing, reading, writing). Physical demands may vary depending on assigned work area and work tasks.
