Job Summary

The Implant Coordinator for Perioperative Services is responsible for managing surgical implants and related medical devices throughout the perioperative process. This role ensures implants are received, inspected, sterilized, and delivered to surgical teams in compliance with hospital protocols and regulatory standards.

Job Responsibilities
  • Manage implant inventory, including procurement, receipt, storage, and tracking of biological and non-biological implants.
  • Ensure compliance with FDA regulations, Joint Commission standards, and organizational policies.
  • Coordinate product recalls and patient notifications in collaboration with Patient Safety, Risk Management, and Logistics teams.
  • Receive and verify surgical implants against purchase orders and case requirements.
  • Inspect implants for integrity, expiration dates, and compliance with manufacturer specifications.
  • Prepare implants for sterilization and ensure proper handling to maintain sterility.
  • Maintain accurate inventory records and track usage for billing and replenishment.
  • Coordinate with surgical teams to ensure implants are available for scheduled procedures.
  • Communicate with vendors regarding returns, replacements, and urgent deliveries.
  • Adhere to infection control and safety protocols at all times.
  • Collaborate with surgical teams, vendors, and logistics to ensure availability of implants, instrumentation, and equipment before scheduled procedures.
  • Attend daily surgical huddles to align on supply needs and resolve discrepancies.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of implant use in electronic tracking systems.
  • Support the tracking of implants for patient safety, including recalls and potential issues affecting implant viability.
  • Monitor stock levels, rotate inventory, and adjust par levels to support demand.
  • Evaluate and recommend space utilization improvements for inventory storage.
  • Act as the liaison between surgeons, vendors, and surgical scheduling teams.
  • Coordinate implant-related needs across multiple departments to maintain efficiency and accuracy.
Education

Required:

High school diploma or equivalent;
Associate degree in healthcare or related field preferred.

Experience
  • 1-3 years of experience in sterile processing, surgical supply chain, or operating room support.
  • Knowledge of surgical implants and medical device handling.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
